Horatio Alger District of Columbia, Maryland & Virginia Scholarship Program

Robert C. Byrd Wyoming Honors Scholarship

Each year outstanding students in our state receive these renewable awards, each in the amount of $1,500. If you have a GPA of at least 3.8, excellent SAT/ACT scores, strength of character and proven leadership abilities, you should apply for one of these. In addition to the appropriate application you will need to submit letters of recommendation, transcript, test scores, and record of community service. If you would like to be considered for this prestigious award, contact your high school guidance counselor. Alert Scholarship

Do you write well? Then this might be right up your alley. You will need to have a grade point of at least 2.5 in order to participate in the essay contest which is the basis for selection of the winners of these awards. Hathaway Scholarships

The University of Wyoming has established multiple scholarships in the name of Wyoming past Governor Stan Hathaway. Funds from these awards may be used at UW or at Wyoming Community College. American Legion Wyoming E.A. Blackmore Memorial Scholarship

Do you have a parent or grandparent who is an active member of the American Legion? If you do, and you can prove your need for financial assistance to continue your education on into college, as well as a good academic record ranking in the top 20% of your graduating class, you might be interested in this scholarship. Seattle Jaycees Scholarship

This is a four-year award designated for you high academic achievers out there! To be eligible, you must rank in the top 1% of your graduating class. Multiple scholarships will be awarded, each based on actual tuition costs at whichever school you have chosen to attend within the state. Amounts vary but range from $2,725 to $6,750. Virginia Lee-Jackson Scholarship

This is a scholarship designated for a student who has writing talent, and selection is based on an essay competition. It may be entered by high school seniors, who are interested in a career in journalism or writing. The essay is to reflect appreciation for those virtues exemplified by General Robert E. Lee or General Stonewall Jackson. The amount of this award is dependent upon the quality of the essay, and there are additional awards given for those deemed outstanding. This unique scholarship is available to students residing in New England who wish to major in a field of study not offered by public institutions in their home states. Vermont Part-Time Grant

This is a grant and will never need to be repaid. It is unusual in that it is for part-time students only. If you are a graduating high school senior in Vermont who requires financial assistance to continue your education, and you plan to take less than 12 hours per semester, then you may qualify. American Legion Vermont Scholarship

These scholarships are awarded on the basis of recommendations from American Legion Units in the state of Vermont. To be eligible you must be a graduating high school senior who either lives within the state of Vermont, or who lives in an adjacent state but whose parents are residents of the state, or who is a senior in high school attending an in-state school. Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership (LEAP)

Are you a graduating high school student who is going to require financial assistance to continue your education? If you are, and you live in Utah, this may the program that can help you. This is a grant program whereby funds are provided to participating universities and colleges in the state, and they award the funds directly to the students. Are you a descendant or dependent of a veteran who served during the Grenada conflict, Korean War, Lebanon conflict, Panama conflict, Persian Gulf War, WWI, WWII, or Viet Nam? Are you a high school student living in Utah? If you answered ‘yes’ to these questions, you might be eligible for this scholarship. Texas State-Funded Scholarships

The State of Texas provides education funding for several scholarships for students attending colleges and universities within the State. Some are based on the program of study and some are based on proven academic ability. More information is available at: www.uh.edu.
Highest Ranking High School Graduate

The highest ranking graduate of each accredited high school in Texas is exempt from tuition at public colleges in Texas for two semesters of the first regular session following graduation.
Top 10% High School Graduate Scholarship

The scholarship is intended to encourage financially needy high school graduates in the top 10% of their class to attend a Texas public institution of higher education. Each qualifying student is eligible to receive $2,000 if they enroll fulltime in a Texas public college or university.
Engineering Scholarship Program

The 80th Texas legislature established the Engineering Scholarship Program to provide scholarships to students who are pursuing an undergraduate degree in engineering at a participating general teaching institution in Texas. Scholarship recipients may receive up to $5000 per academic year.
5th Year Accounting

The purpose of this scholarship is to increase the number of highly trained and educated professional accountants available to serve the residents of this state and identify, recognize and support outstanding scholars who plan to pursue careers in accounting.
Good Neighbor Scholarship Program

The Good Neighbor Scholarship Program is to encourage academically talented students from the countries of the Western (American) hemisphere to pursue higher education in the State of Texas thus, establishing a beneficial link between the State of Texas and their home countries.
Mexican Citizens with Financial Need-Border County Waiver

The purpose of this waiver is to waive nonresidential tuition for students from Mexico. Eligible students must be full time and citizens of Mexico, residing in Mexico. Students must also exhibit financial need as determined by the TAFSA (Texas Application for State Financial Aid), which must be submitted every year to determine eligibility.
Early High School Scholarship

The purpose of the Early High School Graduation Scholarship Program is to provide tuition and fee assistance to students completing grades 9 - 12 early or with a significant number of college hours; thus, enabling and encouraging the student to attend college in Texas.

Carl N. & Margaret Karcher Founders’ Scholarship

This scholarship is directed toward a high school senior who is a resident of, among other states, Texas. Funds provided are to be utilized at an accredited 2 or 4-year college or university. Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship

You have worked hard and have shown consistently high scholastic achievement! Now, due to that hard work, you may qualify for this prestigious scholarship. You must be a high school senior and live in Texas. Scholastically, you must have an outstanding record of achievement, and be in the top 10% of your graduating class. Award is renewable for up to four years, with an initial amount of $1,500. Those selected for this scholarship may attend any accredited college or university anywhere in the United States, however, those attending U.S. military academies are not eligible. Horatio Alger Texas Scholarship Program

If you are a high school senior who has already faced and overcome great obstacles in your life, you need to take a closer look at this program.

You must be a Texas graduating high school senior that can demonstrate financial need; that you have a history of academic achievement; that you have displayed depth of character; and, that you are service orientated. To apply you will need to submit an essay, copy of your transcript, a letter of support, and an income statement. The scholarship may be used for full-time undergraduate study at accredited universities and colleges in the United States. There are multiple awards, each in the amount of $5,000. American Legion Texas Auxiliary General Education Scholarship

Are you a descendant or dependent of a veteran who served during the Grenada conflict, Korean War, Lebanon conflict, Panama conflict, Persian Gulf War, WWI, WWII, or Viet Nam? Are you a high school student living in Texas? If you answered ‘yes’ to these questions, you might be eligible for this scholarship. This scholarship is awarded in the amount of $500, may be used at 2-year or 4-year eligible educational institution. You also must be able to demonstrate your need for financial assistance.
